How to delete your Buy Me a Coffee account
Buy Me a Coffee is a creator-tips and memberships platform similar to Ko-fi, popular with podcasters, bloggers, and indie devs. It stores your creator profile, supporter list, shop / extras products, membership tiers, payout connection (Stripe), tax documents, and posts. The platform takes a 5% fee on transactions.
Delete your Buy Me a Coffee account, step by step
- 01Sign in to buymeacoffee.com
- 02Click your avatar > 'Settings'
- 03Open the 'Account' tab
- 04Scroll to 'Delete Account'
- 05If the button isn't present, email [email protected] asking for account closure
- 06Confirm via the email Buy Me a Coffee sends
- 07Closure processes within ~30 days

Download your data from Buy Me a Coffee first
Most platforms only honor a data-export request while the account is still active. Do this before you delete.
- 01Buy Me a Coffee does not provide a one-click export. Manually: Dashboard > Supporters > 'Download CSV' for supporter list. Posts can be copied individually. For full personal data, file a GDPR/CCPA request via [email protected].

Deactivation hides your profile without permanently destroying it. Logging back in restores everything.

Will my Buy Me a Coffee supporters get refunded?
No. Past tips and membership payments are not refunded on closure. Recurring memberships should be cancelled BEFORE closing to avoid future charges supporters can't enjoy.
How do I download my supporter list?
Dashboard > Supporters > 'Download CSV'. The file includes names (where shared), messages, and amounts. Use it to migrate to Patreon, Ko-fi, or Substack if you're switching platforms.
What happens to my members' subscriptions?
Cancel memberships first or members get charged for content they can't access. The closure flow does not automatically refund active members.
Can I delete just my membership tier without deleting my BMC account?
Yes. Memberships > select the tier > 'Cancel' or 'Pause'. Existing members get notified per BMC's policy. You can keep the donation/extras features running.
What if I have unpaid Stripe payout balance?
Stripe holds the funds. Verify your payout schedule and bank details BEFORE closure so the final transfer completes. Settle any disputes (chargebacks, refunds) first.
Will my Buy Me a Coffee URL be available to someone else after deletion?
Usernames are typically retired (not freed) to prevent impersonation, especially for creators with established audiences. You won't be able to claim the same name on a new account.
